About

I am Zack Milles, a student in the College of Arts & Sciences at Cornell University and a former high school student at Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in New York City. Entering high school, I came across my grandfather’s Nikon F2 (35mm, single-lens reflex), who had passed it to my father and now to me. Intrigued, I took classes at school and joined the Teen Academy at the International Center of Photography (ICP), learning to develop my negatives by hand and print them in a darkroom. My interest photography has expanded beyond my own work. My portfolio "Construction" is a modern twist of Lewis Hine's Men at Work and my "Walt Whitman" portfolio is influenced by Whitman's poetry, specifically Leaves of Grass, and Walker Evans' Many are Called. All the photos on this website are all taken with my family’s Nikon, a camera made in 1975. Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy!
